When the 2020 pandemic lock-down brought our lives to an abrupt halt, I was fortunate to be able to relocate from my home in New York City to northwestern Connecticut and the southern Berkshire Mountains.   As our normal routines slowed down, I watched the  seasons come and go in a neighboring field.

During a time of confusion and fear, there was something extraordinarily comforting in the endurance and continuity of the natural world.
